Présentation

Owner:         Jean-François Ménard

History and geographical location :

Created in 1985 by Jean-François Ménard, Château Mémoires streched over 5 ha in those days.

In 1992, Jean-François Ménard acquired an ancient winegrowing estate located at the top of Saint-Maixant slopes (3 kms from Langon) between Château Malagar (former property of the writer François Mauriac) and the Verdelais calvary (calvary of Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage).

Therefore he established a Société Civile d’Exploitation Agricole (SCEA) with a vineyard recently increased to 56 ha. It is mainly located in the districts of Saint Maixant, Verdelais and Loupiac, facing south on the first slopes of the Garonne’s right bank.

Vinification

The Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon are picked at their best ripening, de-stemmed and sorted out when they arrive at the cellar.

The Bordeaux red and the Bordeaux dry white Sauvignon are vinified and aged in stainless steel.

Our Côtes de Bordeaux Cadillac rouge selection is aged in new and one-wine oak casks. They are maturing from 12 to 18 months.

The Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle grapes for Loupiac and Cadillac, picked by selective and successive harvests, are mostly vinified and aged in traditional cement tanks.

But the best selective picking of botrytised grapes is vinified and aged in oak to elaborate a special “Cuvée” of Cadillac and Loupiac, named “Grains d’Or”.

The barrel ageing also varies between 12 and 18 months.
